Snæfellsnes peninsula

The peninsula west of Reykjavík: a glacier-capped volcano at its tip, sea stacks and basalt cliffs on the south shore, and the black wooden church at Búðir standing alone on the lava field.

Snæfellsjökull is the volcano Jules Verne chose as the entrance in Journey to the Centre of the Earth.
