Terms of Service

These Terms govern your use of the purplelink.llc website, the free web tools published there, the paid Paper Review tool, the ModernTex, Outbound Veil, Legroom, Keyfeel, Tapefolio, Panely and Summonly Mac apps, the Mac Suite bundle, and the Vitae Plus subscription (collectively, "the Services"), provided by Purplelink LLC, a Georgia limited liability company ("Purplelink", "we"). By using the Services you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.

The Services are provided as-is

The Services are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. Purplelink does not warrant that the Services will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that any defect will be corrected.

Output from the tools (compiled PDFs, converted documents, generated citations, validation reports, corrected bibliographies) is provided for your convenience. You are responsible for reviewing any output before relying on it for academic, professional, or any other consequential use.

Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Services to:

• upload, process, or distribute content you do not have the right to use, or that infringes anyone else's intellectual property, privacy, or other rights;
• upload malware, exploits, or content designed to harm the Services or other users;
• attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape at scale, or otherwise abuse the hosted backend, including circumventing rate limits;
• submit content that is illegal under U.S. or Georgia law, including content that is defamatory, harassing, or constitutes child sexual abuse material;
• use the Services to build a competing product by way of scraping or systematic export.

We may rate-limit, throttle, or refuse service to any IP or pattern of use that we reasonably believe violates these terms or threatens the stability of the Services.

Your content

Free tools. Files you upload to the free in-browser tools are processed in memory in an ephemeral container and discarded immediately when your request completes. We do not retain copies of your files.

Paid Paper Review. The manuscript PDF you upload is sent to Anthropic's Claude API for analysis. Per Anthropic's commercial Terms, inputs are retained by Anthropic for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring and are not used to train models. Purplelink itself does not retain the manuscript or the resulting review after delivery: the review is deleted from Purplelink's storage on first retrieval, or after 24 hours, whichever comes first. References extracted from the bibliography are sent to CrossRef for verification.

You retain all ownership of the content you upload. You grant Purplelink only the limited, temporary right to process that content for the purpose of returning the requested output. This grant terminates the moment your request completes (free tools) or your review is retrieved (Paper Review).

Paid services — additional terms

Purplelink offers several paid Services: Paper Review (tiered: Standard $9 with Anonymity Check bundled free, Standard + Journal Pack $11, Deep $15 with everything bundled), Paper Review volume packs (5-pack $38, 20-pack $150), Cover Letter Generator ($2), Anonymity Check ($2 standalone, free with Paper Review), Citation Gap Analysis ($3), Revision Review ($2), and Response to Reviewers ($6). By submitting a Stripe Checkout payment you agree to the following additional terms, which apply only to paid Services:

• Tokens. Each successful payment mints one or more redemption tokens (one per single purchase; multiple per volume pack). Tokens for single purchases expire 7 days after issuance. Tokens minted from a volume pack do not expire. Each token is single-use.
• No professional advice. The review is produced by an AI system. It is provided for your convenience as a first-pass red team only. It is not peer review, not legal advice, not medical advice, and not a substitute for a human expert. You are responsible for reviewing every finding before relying on it for academic, professional, or any other consequential use.
• Refunds. If a specific review reads as low-quality, email ben@purplelink.llc within 14 days of the purchase and we will refund the amount you paid for that Service to the original payment method. Refunds are issued at Purplelink's discretion.
• Content responsibility. Do not submit manuscripts containing unredacted patient health information, classified material, or content you do not have the right to share with third-party AI services. You warrant that you have the rights necessary to submit the manuscript for processing.
• Liability cap for paid Services. Purplelink's total cumulative liability to you for all claims arising out of or related to a paid Service will not exceed the greater of: (i) five times the amount you paid for that Service in the preceding 90 days; or (ii) USD $25. This cap supersedes the $100 cap below for paid-Service claims.

ModernTex: additional terms

ModernTex is a macOS app sold for $19.99 USD, once, through Stripe Checkout, with a free 7-day trial before purchase. By buying ModernTex you agree to the following, which apply only to ModernTex:

• Refunds. Email ben@purplelink.llc within 14 days of purchase and we will refund the full $19.99 to the original payment method. You don't need to give a reason. A refunded purchase's license key is no longer licensed for use.
• Updates. The purchase includes all updates to ModernTex, forever, including future major versions. The app checks for updates once a day and asks before installing one.
• Your key. The license key in your receipt email is for your own use on the Macs you use. Do not publish or share it.
• Liability cap for ModernTex. Purplelink's total cumulative liability to you for all claims arising out of or related to ModernTex will not exceed the greater of: (i) the amount you paid for ModernTex; or (ii) USD $25. This cap supersedes the $100 cap below for ModernTex claims.

Outbound Veil: additional terms

Outbound Veil is a macOS app sold for $29.99 USD, once, through Stripe Checkout, with a free 7-day trial before purchase. By buying Outbound Veil you agree to the following, which apply only to Outbound Veil:

• Refunds. Email ben@purplelink.llc within 14 days of purchase and we will refund the full $29.99 to the original payment method. You don't need to give a reason. A refunded purchase's license key is no longer licensed for use.
• Updates. The purchase includes all updates to Outbound Veil, forever, including future major versions. The app checks for updates and asks before installing one.
• License key. There is one download. It runs free for 7 days from first launch, then asks for a license key. After you pay you receive the key by email and on the download page, and the Find a purchase page sends it again. It unlocks Outbound Veil on your own Macs, works offline with no account, and is not tied to a machine. Please do not share it. We cannot switch off a key remotely, so if you ask for a refund within 14 days, you agree to stop using the key. A copy you paid for before version 1.1.0 is recognized when you install the new version over it and does not ask for a key.
• A mistake-reducer, not a guarantee. Outbound Veil lowers the chance of sending personal information by mistake. It will miss some things and flag some things that are not personal information. It is not a compliance product and does not replace your own judgment or your obligations to the people whose information you handle.
• Liability cap for Outbound Veil. Purplelink's total cumulative liability to you for all claims arising out of or related to Outbound Veil will not exceed the greater of: (i) the amount you paid for Outbound Veil; or (ii) USD $25. This cap supersedes the $100 cap below for Outbound Veil claims.

Legroom: additional terms

Legroom is a macOS app sold for $9.99 USD, once, through Stripe Checkout, with a free 7-day trial before purchase. By buying Legroom you agree to the following, which apply only to Legroom:

• Refunds. Email ben@purplelink.llc within 14 days of purchase and we will refund the full $9.99 to the original payment method. You don't need to give a reason. A refunded purchase's license key is no longer licensed for use.
• Updates. The purchase includes updates to the version of Legroom you bought. The app checks for updates once a day and asks before installing one. Purplelink has not decided whether a later major version would be a free update.
• License key. There is one download. It runs free for 7 days from first launch, then asks for a license key. After you pay you receive the key by email and on the download page, and the Find a purchase page sends it again. It unlocks Legroom on up to two of your own Macs, works offline with no account, and is not tied to a machine. Please do not share it. We cannot switch off a key remotely, so if you ask for a refund within 14 days, you agree to stop using the key. A copy you paid for before version 1.1.0 is recognized when you install the new version over it and does not ask for a key.
• You approve what is removed. Legroom removes files only through a rule you created, after you approved a preview of what the rule would remove, or through a selection you make in Space Map, Find Files or the Uninstaller. A rule can be set to delete items permanently, and deleted items cannot be recovered by Legroom. Check each preview before you approve it. Legroom does not guarantee that a folder or cache is safe to clean, and you are responsible for the files you choose to remove and for keeping your own backups.
• Liability cap for Legroom. Purplelink's total cumulative liability to you for all claims arising out of or related to Legroom will not exceed the greater of: (i) the amount you paid for Legroom; or (ii) USD $25. This cap supersedes the $100 cap below for Legroom claims.

Keyfeel: additional terms

Keyfeel is a macOS app sold for $9.99 USD, once, through Stripe Checkout, with a free 7-day trial before purchase. By buying Keyfeel you agree to the following, which apply only to Keyfeel:

• Refunds. Email ben@purplelink.llc within 14 days of purchase and we will refund the full $9.99 to the original payment method. You don't need to give a reason. A refunded purchase's download link stops working.
• Updates. The purchase includes all updates to Keyfeel. The app checks for updates and asks before installing one.
• License key. After you pay you receive a license key by email and on the download page. It unlocks Keyfeel on up to two of your own Macs, works offline, and is not tied to a machine. Please do not share it. We cannot switch off a key remotely, so if you ask for a refund within 14 days, you agree to stop using the key.
• A permission you control. Keyfeel needs the macOS Input Monitoring permission to be told which key was pressed. You grant it, and you can withdraw it at any time in System Settings. Without it Keyfeel stays silent.
• Liability cap for Keyfeel. Purplelink's total cumulative liability to you for all claims arising out of or related to Keyfeel will not exceed the greater of: (i) the amount you paid for Keyfeel; or (ii) USD $25. This cap supersedes the $100 cap below for Keyfeel claims.

Tapefolio: additional terms

Tapefolio is a macOS app sold for $29.99 USD, once, through Stripe Checkout, with a free 7-day trial before purchase. By buying Tapefolio you agree to the following, which apply only to Tapefolio:

• Refunds. Email ben@purplelink.llc within 14 days of purchase and we will refund the full $29.99 to the original payment method. You don't need to give a reason. A refunded purchase's download link stops working.
• Updates. The purchase includes all updates to Tapefolio. The app checks for updates and asks before installing one.
• License key. There is one download. It runs free for 7 days from first launch, then asks for a license key. After you pay you receive the key by email and on the download page, and the Find a purchase page sends it again. It unlocks Tapefolio on up to two of your own Macs, works offline with no account, and is not tied to a machine. Please do not share it. We cannot switch off a key remotely, so if you ask for a refund within 14 days, you agree to stop using the key.
• Transcripts are drafts. Tapefolio mishears words, mislabels speakers and misses some identifiers. Its output is an aid, not a record. You are responsible for checking it against the recording, for deciding what may be shared or quoted, and for following the rules of your institution, your ethics board and the people you recorded. Tapefolio does not make a study compliant with any rule, and identifier removal does not anonymize a transcript.
• Consent. You are responsible for having the consent you need to record, transcribe and, if you turn on speaker memory, recognize the people in your recordings. Speaker memory asks for a recorded consent note, and that note is yours to obtain and keep.
• Optional models. Until you download a speech model, Tapefolio uses Apple's on-device speech recognition, which is Apple's software under Apple's terms, and macOS may download Apple's own speech model once. The speech and speaker models you can download inside Tapefolio are downloaded from Hugging Face, come from their publishers and are used under their own licenses. Settings can delete them.
• Liability cap for Tapefolio. Purplelink's total cumulative liability to you for all claims arising out of or related to Tapefolio will not exceed the greater of: (i) the amount you paid for Tapefolio; or (ii) USD $25. This cap supersedes the $100 cap below for Tapefolio claims.

Panely: additional terms

Panely is a macOS app sold for $9.99 USD, once, through Stripe Checkout, with a free 7-day trial before purchase. By buying Panely you agree to the following, which apply only to Panely:

• Refunds. Email ben@purplelink.llc within 14 days of purchase and we will refund the full $9.99 to the original payment method. You don't need to give a reason. A refunded purchase's download link stops working.
• Updates. The purchase includes all updates to Panely. The app checks for updates and asks before installing one.
• License key. There is one download. It runs free for 7 days from first launch, then asks for a license key. After you pay you receive the key by email and on the download page, and the Find a purchase page sends it again. It unlocks Panely on up to two of your own Macs, works offline with no account, and is not tied to a machine. Please do not share it. We cannot switch off a key remotely, so if you ask for a refund within 14 days, you agree to stop using the key.
• A permission you control. Panely needs the macOS Accessibility permission to move and resize other apps' windows. You grant it, and you can withdraw it at any time in System Settings. Without it Panely cannot move anything.
• Windows do what apps allow. Panely asks an app to move or resize its window. Some apps limit their window's size or position, so a window may not land exactly where a layout puts it. Panely does not guarantee that every window can be moved, and it works only on windows in the current Space.
• Liability cap for Panely. Purplelink's total cumulative liability to you for all claims arising out of or related to Panely will not exceed the greater of: (i) the amount you paid for Panely; or (ii) USD $25. This cap supersedes the $100 cap below for Panely claims.

Summonly: additional terms

Summonly is a macOS app sold for $9.99 USD, once, through Stripe Checkout, with a free 7-day trial before purchase. By buying Summonly you agree to the following, which apply only to Summonly:

• Refunds. Email ben@purplelink.llc within 14 days of purchase and we will refund the full $9.99 to the original payment method. You don't need to give a reason. A refunded purchase's download link stops working.
• Updates. The purchase includes all updates to Summonly. The app checks for updates and asks before installing one.
• License key. There is one download. It runs free for 7 days from first launch, then asks for a license key. After you pay you receive the key by email and on the download page, and the Find a purchase page sends it again. It unlocks Summonly on up to two of your own Macs, works offline with no account, and is not tied to a machine. Please do not share it. We cannot switch off a key remotely, so if you ask for a refund within 14 days, you agree to stop using the key.
• Folders and permissions you control. Summonly indexes only the folders you choose, and macOS asks your permission before it can read protected folders such as Desktop, Documents and Downloads. You can remove a folder or delete the index at any time. Search results may be incomplete, for example for files in folders you have not added or whose contents Summonly does not read.
• Clipboard history. Clipboard history is off until you turn it on in the first-run window or in Settings. Until then Summonly does not read the clipboard. When it is on, Summonly keeps a history of text you copy, on your Mac, and you can keep it in memory only. It skips password managers, items apps mark as private, and text that looks like a card number, a one-time code, an access token, a long key, or a password with upper and lower case letters, a digit and a symbol, but these rules are not perfect, and a simple password made only of letters can be recorded. You are responsible for turning history off or clearing it if you copy sensitive material.
• Question search. Question search is optional and off until you turn it on. When it is on, Summonly reads the text of the documents in the folders you chose and stores it in a separate file in its folder in Application Support, on your Mac, so it can show the passage that answers a question. It skips files whose names suggest secrets, but the passages can include anything written in the documents it reads, so turn it off or delete the passage index in Settings if that is a concern. Answers are found by matching words, can be wrong or missing, and are not advice of any kind.
• Liability cap for Summonly. Purplelink's total cumulative liability to you for all claims arising out of or related to Summonly will not exceed the greater of: (i) the amount you paid for Summonly; or (ii) USD $25. This cap supersedes the $100 cap below for Summonly claims.

Mac Suite: additional terms

The Purplelink Mac Suite is one payment of $59.99 USD, through Stripe Checkout, that includes ModernTex, Outbound Veil, Legroom, Keyfeel, Tapefolio, Panely, Summonly and a lifetime Vitae Plus key. It was $39 before Legroom was added and $49 before Keyfeel was added, and anyone who bought it at either price gets Legroom and Keyfeel too. The price changed from $54 to $54.99 on October 7, 2026 with no change to what it includes. Tapefolio was added with no change in price. Panely and Summonly were added on October 12, 2026, when the price became $59.99, and anyone who bought the Suite earlier, at any earlier price, gets Tapefolio, Panely and Summonly too. A later price change never takes away anything a buyer has already bought. By buying it you agree to the ModernTex, Outbound Veil, Legroom, Keyfeel, Tapefolio, Panely and Summonly terms above for those apps and to the following, which apply only to the Suite:

• Refunds. Email ben@purplelink.llc within 14 days of purchase and we will refund the full amount you paid to the original payment method. You don't need to give a reason. A refunded Suite's download links stop working, and its ModernTex, Outbound Veil, Legroom, Keyfeel, Tapefolio, Panely and Summonly license keys and its Vitae Plus key are no longer licensed for use.
• Lifetime Vitae Plus. "Lifetime" means for as long as Purplelink offers Vitae Plus. The key is valid for 100 years and does not renew. If Purplelink ever discontinues Vitae Plus we will tell you first, and the key will keep working in the version of Vitae you have.
• Updates. The purchase includes all updates to ModernTex, forever, including future major versions. It includes all updates to Outbound Veil, forever, including future major versions, all updates to Keyfeel, Tapefolio, Panely and Summonly, updates to the version of Legroom you receive, and Vitae updates as they are released.
• Liability cap for the Suite. Purplelink's total cumulative liability to you for all claims arising out of or related to the Suite will not exceed the greater of: (i) the amount you paid for the Suite; or (ii) USD $25. This cap supersedes the $100 cap below for Suite claims.

Kits — additional terms

Purplelink also sells downloadable Kits (The Faceless Content Pipeline $49, The Monetization Stack $29, The Clip Pipeline $10): guides and code delivered as an instant digital download after payment, not processed by Purplelink's own tools. By submitting a Stripe Checkout payment for a Kit you agree to the following, which apply only to Kits:

• Refunds. If a Kit doesn't work as documented, email ben@purplelink.llc within 14 days of purchase and we will refund the amount you paid to the original payment method. Refunds are issued at Purplelink's discretion.
• No professional advice. Kits are provided for your convenience as a starting point. You are responsible for reviewing and adapting any code or guidance before relying on it for production, academic, professional, or any other consequential use.
• Liability cap for Kits. Purplelink's total cumulative liability to you for all claims arising out of or related to a Kit will not exceed the greater of: (i) five times the amount you paid for that Kit in the preceding 90 days; or (ii) USD $25. This cap supersedes the $100 cap below for Kit claims.

Vitae Plus: additional terms

Vitae is a free macOS app. Vitae Plus is an optional subscription that turns on extra tools in the app: $2.99 a month or $23.99 a year, in U.S. dollars. By subscribing through Stripe Checkout you agree to the following, which apply only to Vitae Plus:

• Free trial. Both plans start with a 7-day free trial. Checkout asks for a payment method, and nothing is charged during the trial. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, the first charge is made on the day it ends.
• Automatic renewal. The subscription renews at the end of each month or year, and the plan's price is charged to your payment method, until you cancel. Stripe emails a receipt for each charge. If we ever change the price, we will email you at least 30 days before it applies to your next renewal, and you can cancel before then.
• Cancelling. Cancel at any time from Vitae (Settings, then Vitae Plus, then Manage Subscription) or by emailing ben@purplelink.llc. Cancelling stops future renewals. Plus keeps working until the end of the period you have paid for; there are no partial refunds for the rest of that period, except as below.
• Refunds. If Vitae Plus does not work as described, email ben@purplelink.llc within 14 days of a charge and we will refund that charge to the original payment method. Refunds are issued at Purplelink's discretion. A refunded subscription is cancelled.
• Your key. Your subscription comes with a license key for your own use on the Macs you use. Do not publish or share it. The key renews itself while the subscription is active; if it is lost, you can get a current one at the recovery page. We may stop renewing a key that has been published or shared widely.
• Your records. Your Vitae library stays on your Mac and is never sent to Purplelink, with or without Plus. When Plus ends, the Plus tools stop working; your records, every free feature and any files you exported are unaffected.
• Liability cap for Vitae Plus. Purplelink's total cumulative liability to you for all claims arising out of or related to Vitae Plus will not exceed the greater of: (i) the amount you paid for Vitae Plus in the preceding 12 months; or (ii) USD $25. This cap supersedes the $100 cap below for Vitae Plus claims.

Binnacle: additional terms

Binnacle, a Mac app for bookkeeping and tax estimates now in private beta, has its own terms, including the notice that it is not tax, legal, accounting, or financial advice. Read the Binnacle Terms before using it. They apply to Binnacle in addition to these Terms and control if the two conflict on a point about Binnacle.

Indemnity

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Purplelink LLC and its sole member, officers, and contractors from any third-party claim, loss, damage, liability, or expense (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of: (a) your use of the Services, (b) your violation of these Terms, (c) your violation of any applicable law, or (d) any content you upload through the Services, including any claim that the content infringes a third party's rights.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Purplelink will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, goodwill, or business opportunity, arising out of your use of the Services — even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

For free Services, Purplelink's total cumulative liability to you for all claims arising out of or related to the free Services will not exceed one hundred U.S. dollars (USD $100). You acknowledge that the free Services are provided free of charge and that this liability cap is a fundamental basis of the bargain. For paid Services, the higher cap described under "Paid services — additional terms" applies.

Third-party services

The Services use a small number of third-party providers: Netlify (hosting, form delivery, and serverless functions), Modal (compute for the backend tools), Cloudflare (privacy-respecting web analytics), Stripe (payment processing for paid Services), Anthropic (Claude AI model that powers Paper Review), and external academic APIs (CrossRef, Semantic Scholar, doi.org). Their terms apply to your use of those underlying systems. Purplelink is not responsible for third-party outages.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms when the Services change. Material updates will bump the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Services after a change indicates acceptance of the updated Terms.

Termination

You can stop using the Services at any time. Purplelink may suspend or terminate access to the Services, in whole or in part, at any time and for any reason, with or without notice. The sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination — disclaimer, indemnity, limitation of liability, governing law — will survive.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising out of or related to the Services or these Terms will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Fulton County, Georgia, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
