Questions
Where do the limits come from?
From the same rule library the paid Journal Pack uses, which records each venue's instructions for authors with a link to the source. Limits change between years and article types, so confirm in the venue's own instructions before you submit.
How are words counted?
As a reader would count them: LaTeX commands, citations and comments are left out, the text inside braces is kept, and each piece of inline math counts as one word. Journals' own counters differ slightly, so leave a few words of margin.
Is my abstract sent anywhere?
No. The count runs in your browser and nothing you paste leaves the page.
