Once your replies are written, Response to Reviewers ($6) reads the letter against each comment and flags missing, vague or defensive answers before the editor does.
Your text never leaves your browser. There is no upload and nothing is stored.
How to use it
- Copy the reviewers' comments from the decision letter or the submission system and paste them in, headings included (Reviewer 1, Referee #2, Associate Editor).
- Choose Markdown, LaTeX, or plain text for pasting into Word, and press Build the template. The count under the button tells you how many comments it found; check it against the letter.
- Write each reply under its comment, and fill in where the change is in the revised manuscript. The guide to responding to Reviewer 2 covers sorting the comments before you write, and LaTeX Diff makes the marked-up PDF many journals ask for.
Questions
How do I format a response to reviewers?
Quote each reviewer comment, give it a number (for example 2.3 for Reviewer 2, comment 3), answer it directly, and say exactly what changed in the manuscript and where: section, page and line numbers. Answer every comment, including the ones you disagree with.
Is my text uploaded?
No. The template is built in your browser with JavaScript. Nothing is sent to a server or stored.
What if the comments are split wrongly?
The tool looks for reviewer headings such as Reviewer 2 or Referee #1 and for numbered or bulleted comments, and falls back to paragraphs. Check the count it reports, and merge or split comments in the output where the letter was unusual.
